We outline the pros and cons of the kits below. As always, if you have questions, reach out to our customer service team.
Structurally Insulated Panel Systems (SIPs) kits Designed for Michigan Homes
Structurally Insulated Panel Systems (SIPs) are a superior choice for home construction in Michigan. Our panels are made by sandwiching a Closed Cell Spray Foam insulation core between two layers of structural board, creating a building material that’s incredibly strong and energy-efficient. The result? A home that's really well-insulated and solid, reducing heating and cooling costs significantly. A SIPs kit can be 2.5x stronger than a traditional wood home and they offer unsurpassed energy efficiency.
SIPs are all about efficiency, both in terms of energy and construction time. The kits come pre-fabricated, which means faster assembly on-site with fewer labor costs. Plus, their precision reduces waste and ensures a tighter building envelope, leading to better overall performance.
SIPs also offer excellent versatility, fitting well with various Michigan-style architectural designs while providing superior insulation and structural integrity. They’re an ideal choice for anyone looking to build a home that’s energy-efficient, strong, and built to last.
Cold-Formed Steel Home Kits for Michigan Home Builds
Cold-formed steel (CFS) is a game-changer in home construction, it make erecting a home fast and affordable. You don't need a lot of unique skills to erect these types of kits. CFS is incredibly strong, lightweight, and offers unmatched durability. Unlike traditional materials, cold-formed steel doesn’t warp, shrink, or crack, meaning the structure will stand the test of time. Plus, it’s resistant to fire, pests, mold, and moisture—no worries about termites or rot.
Building with cold-formed steel is also more efficient. It’s manufactured to exact specifications, which speeds up construction and reduces errors. And let’s not forget, it’s 100% recyclable, so it’s a solid choice for anyone thinking long-term. This material checks all the boxes: strength, precision, and sustainability.
The CFS Kits from My Barndo Plans include external and internal framing, Zip Systems Sheathing, roof decking, 26 GA metal siding, 26 GA metal roofing, windows, and exterior doors. Once the kit is erected, you are ready for wires and plumbing. We typically use CFS kits for our MI homes under 3,000 SQ Ft and they really good fit for our smaller home plans.
Red Iron Steel MI Barndominium Home Kits
Do you plan to build a big home with a Viking-style hall and wide open spaces? Red Iron may be a good fit. We use structural steel (I-Beam) to create a shell for you to build your non-load-bearing walls inside. Your options are almost limitless.
Michigan red iron steel kits are a powerhouse in home construction, known for their unmatched strength and durability. Made from steel that’s coated with a red oxide to prevent rust, these kits are designed to last a lifetime. The framing is solid, ensuring the home’s structure can withstand heavy loads and extreme weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for any build.
One of the biggest advantages of red iron steel kits for MI home builders is their versatility. They can be customized to fit almost any design, offering flexibility while maintaining structural integrity. This makes them ideal for a wide range of home styles, from traditional to modern.
These kits are also straightforward to assemble. The components are pre-cut and and ready for weld-up, which means faster construction and less room for error. Plus, the steel is fire-resistant, termite-proof, and won’t warp or rot over time, ensuring that the home remains sturdy and secure for decades.
Red iron steel kits are an excellent choice for anyone serious about building a home that combines strength, durability, and flexibility. They offer long-term reliability with the added benefit of efficient construction.
