Cold Formed Steel Barndominium Kit Being Made in TX Factory
Building the Future: A Day at the ASF Factory with My Barndo Plans
We are proud to partner with an outstanding team in Texas to produce the kits for our Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) barndominiums. The hardworking crew at ASF was in full swing on Saturday, August 8th, meticulously crafting the components for our latest project – the Quinn barndominium. This home kit is set to be installed in El Dorado, AR, later this week, marking another milestone in our journey of bringing innovative, sustainable housing solutions to life.
The Framecad Advantage
At the heart of our operation is the state-of-the-art Framecad Machine. This precision-driven machine is a game-changer in the world of modern construction. The process begins with an architectural plan created in Revit, a powerful BIM software, which is then expertly engineered and converted into a proprietary format recognized by Framecad. This conversion is critical, as it ensures that every stud, truss, and panel is cut to exact specifications, leaving no room for error.
Once the file is loaded into the Framecad system, the machine comes alive. It rapidly processes the design, transforming rolls of steel into individual studs. Each stud is precisely labeled, ensuring that assembly on-site is straightforward and efficient. The result is a high-quality, prefabricated kit that can be assembled like an enormous, life-sized erector set.
The Cold-Formed Steel Assembly Team is a show of Skill and Efficiency
In the factory, the process is a well-orchestrated operation. The team takes the individual studs and assembles them into wall panels and ceiling panels, typically in eight-foot sections. This modular approach not only simplifies shipping but also accelerates on-site construction. Watching the team in action is like witnessing a symphony of skill and efficiency. They are seasoned professionals, and their expertise is evident in every movement. The speed and precision with which they work are truly remarkable.
The Strength of Cold-Formed Steel
One of the significant advantages of using Cold-Formed Steel is the speed of construction. But the benefits don’t stop there. CFS homes are incredibly strong, offering superior resistance to natural elements compared to traditional wood-framed houses. These structures are termite-resistant, non-combustible, and virtually fireproof, making them an excellent choice for long-lasting, low-maintenance homes.
The completed Quinn barndominium will be a testament to the power of modern construction techniques. We’re excited to see it take shape, and once it’s standing proudly on its foundation, it will closely resemble the rendering below. We hope to share actual photos of the project soon, showcasing the finished product that we’re so proud to create.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue to innovate and bring more sustainable, resilient homes to communities everywhere.
